Capuchin Crypt

The Capuchin Crypt, also well known as "Imperial Crypt" or "Imperial Burial Vault", is the burial place of the emperors and empresses of the House of Habsburg and their families. It is decorated with works of art which reflect more than four centuries of Austrian and European history. In the course of time the crypt was enlarged several times by the most famous artists of their days to house the splendid shaped sarcophagi.

Spanish Riding School

Equestrian art goes back to the doctrines of the famous Greek commander Xenophon about 400 B.C. and so does the formation of the rider and the equestrian art at the Spanish Riding School. Until today it is part of the tradition that riding skills are passed on orally from the advanced riders or chief-riders to the pupil. Today about 70 school-stallions are held here to present approx. 80 classical performances of the Haute Ecole per year.
